This year I have rekindled my love for reading, and so far, this is the most I have ever read in my adult life. As of today (6/27/2021), so far, I have read 26 books, and I am honestly really impressed with myself. Another thing I have started this year is writing mini-reviews on the books I’ve read, so that inspired me to start a blog where I can brain dump all of my thoughts on books and everything in between. What better way to start my blog than with The Mid Year Book Freak-out Tag? So here it goes!!
BEST BOOK YOU’VE READ SO FAR IN 2021

The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid is the best book I’ve read in 2021 so far. I know this book has been out for a couple of years now, but I only just read it in April, and I had a book hangover for like a week straight. Such a great read!
BEST SEQUEL OF 2021

I have only read one series this year, and that was the Shadow and Bone Trilogy, so this will go to Siege and Storm by Leigh Bardugo, not only because it’s the only sequel I’ve read, but also it is my favorite book of the trilogy.
NEW RELEASE YOU HAVEN’T READ YET BUT WANT TO

One Last Stop by Casey McQuiston, I am adding it to my July BOTM, and I hope to read it as soon as possible. I have seen it all over bookstagram, and I am excited to get my hands on it.
MOST ANTICIPATED RELEASE IN THE SECOND HALF OF 2021

I have two books for this. The first one is Iron Widow, by Xiran Jay Zhao, which releases September 21, 2021, and the second one being White Smoke by Tiffany D. Jackson, which releases on September 14, 2021.
BIGGEST DISApPointment

The biggest disappointment will have to go to Libertie by Kaitlyn Green. The book had a promising start, but that’s about it. It just went downhill, and Libertie annoyed me so much.
BIGGEST SURPRISE

Dial A For Aunties by Jesse Q. Sutanto, I had read great things about this book, but when I started reading it, I had a hard time getting into it and was afraid I wouldn’t like it. But boy, was I wrong! I was pleasantly surprised by how much I laughed out loud reading this murder mystery rom-com.
FAVORITE NEW AUTHOR
For a favorite new author, I will have to say Taylor Jenkins Reid. I love the way she writes and captivates the reader into these stories. I read two books by her this year (Evelyn Hugo and Malibu Rising), and I was impressed by both. From now on anything, she writes, I am reading!
NEWEST FICTIONAL CRUSH

For this one, I technically don’t have one. But if I had to answer it, I would say the Darkling, and that’s because Ben Barnes plays him on the Netflix series, so technically, the crush isn’t on the fictional character but, in fact, on Ben Barnes.
BOOK THAT MADE YOU CRY
I haven’t read any tear-jerkers so far.
BOOK THAT MADE YOU HAPPY

People We Meet on Vacation by Emily Henry was such a sweet, feel-good friends-to-lovers story. I loved Poppy and Alex so much!
FAVORITE BOOK TO MOVIE ADAPTATION YOU’VE SEEN THIS YEAR
This was a more book-to-TV series adaptation, but I will have to say Shadow and Bone. I’ve watched it three times already. Do I need to say more? Haha!
FAVORITE REVIEW YOU’VE WRITTEN THIS YEAR
I don’t think I have one. Maybe The Vanishing Half by Brit Bennett.
THE MOST BEAUTIFUL BOOK YOU BOUGHT OR RECEIVED SO FAR THIS YEAR

I loved The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue.
WHAT DO YOU NEED TO READ BY THE END OF 2021?
Hands down The Six of Crow duology, Circe, and The Song of Achilles.
Hope you all enjoyed my Mid Year Book Freak-out Tag for 2021!
